Vehicle Description 1928 Packard 443 Custom 8 Rumble Seat Runabout/Roadster.
Located near PORTLAND, OREGON.
This Model 443 Custom 8 Runabout was sold on September 18, 1928 by Packard Seattle Company.
While the early history is unknown, by the 1980's it was owned by a gentleman in Alabama who commissioned a full restoration in 1986.
All work was done to a very high level and the car continues to present beautifully today.
It was acquired by the current owner in Oregon in 2007, who showed, toured and enjoyed the car until his recent passing.
It is now being offered for sale on behalf of his estate.
When restored, this Packard was refinished in lacquer with its original color scheme of Straw (cream yellow) body with Rubicelle Maroon fenders and beltline moldings.
A striking combination that was likely custom-ordered by the original owner.
The paint shows well with only normal signs of age.
Good plating.
The interior was reupholstered in correct burgundy leather which also shows well with no rips or tears.
The rumble seat upholstery is excellent, as is the Haartz cloth canvas top.
Mechanically excellent.
The rebuilt 384 cubic inch straight 8 engine starts easily, runs smoothly with excellent power.
Rated at 109 horsepower.
Original (rebuilt) vacuum tank fuel system with updraft carburetor.
The 3-speed manual transmission shifts easily and crisply.
Brakes stop smooth and straight.
Optima battery.
Recently rebuilt starter.
Amp gauge and oil pressure gauge work.
The fuel gauge does not work.
The Motometer water temperature gauge in the Goddess of Speed radiator cap also works.
I have personally driven this car and it is a pleasure to drive.

In addition, there are two Trippe driving lights up front for added light at night.
Glass wind wings.
Dual sidemounted spare wheels and tires.
