Vehicle Description 1940 Packard Super 8 160 Convertible Coupe.
Located near PORTLAND, OREGON.
Just 401 Super 8 160 Convertible Coupes were built by Packard in 1940.
This particular car was sold new in Boston, Massachusetts on April 1, 1940 and was owned by the Forbes family, publishers of Forbes magazine.
We are told that young Malcolm Forbes regularly drove this Packard during his years as a student at Princeton University and considered it his favorite car.
It was acquired by the current owner in 2006 and he set out on a full high-point restoration, the results of which can be seen here.
Finished in a great combination of Packard Cream (yellow) body with maroon leather upholstery and black Haartz cloth canvas manual convertible top with maroon piping.
A sporty combination that draws attention wherever it goes.
All chrome was re-plated, including bumpers, grille, trim and top bows.
All are excellent.
Nicely optioned with dual sidemounted spare wheels with covers and mirrors, bumper guards, senior Trippe driving lights, back-up light, Packard radio and heater, turn signals, seat belts, electric fuel pump and Coker wide whitewall radial tires.
PLEASE SEE PHOTOS WHICH SHOW CURRENT, EXCELLENT CONDITION.
Mechanically excellent.
Rebuilt 356 cubic inch straight 8 engine.
160 horsepower (the most powerful American 8 cylinder car on the road in 1940.
) Excellent acceleration.
Runs smoothly at all speeds.
No smoke or issues.

Brakes stop smooth and straight.
I have personally driven this car and it runs and drives without fault.
A real pleasure to drive on the highway or around town.
